How to Create Pins that Go Viral (2022)
Hey guys! Today I'm going to show you how to create pins that stand out and go
viral on Pinterest. From this video you will find out what are the best sizes of
pins, the best colors that make your pins popular on Pinterest and many other
recommended practices which can help you get more viral pins! If you are a
complete beginner, you need to understand the basics of how saving pins on
Pinterest works. So, this is how an established Pinterest account looks it's
a collection of boards and every board is a collection of pins, essentially, images.
And all the images are linked to some website or a blog. Not all, let's say this
way. But most of the images on Pinterest are linked to an external
source because that's how people save images. They find them on other websites
and want to save them. And content creators obviously want to promote their
content on Pinterest by linking every piece of content to their websites. You
can consider Pinterest a bookmarking site in this sense because it allows you
to save your favorite articles in a visual form with a link to the site you
want to revisit later. I hope that now you have a better idea of how things are
organized on Pinterest. And I was talking so far more from the position of a
regular user and a consumer of content and now if you are a Pinterest content
creator like I am, if you're a website owner and you want to drive free traffic
from Pinterest, then you need to look into a lot more details about the best
types of images which can go viral on Pinterest and you need to know the
principle behind the perfect pin design and that helps your pin gets get a lot
of saves likes an essentially lot of love click throughs yes one of the most
important questions that today's with video is going to help you with is how
to make your pins click worthy so that those beautiful images on Pinterest can
actually convert into traffic to your website into traffic and live
So, let's dive into this! And the first thing I want to talk about is pin design
most importantly Pinterest images must be vertical about 80% of Pinterest users
browse or the boards on mobile devices which is why Pinterest prefers images
with an aspect ratio of 2 to 3 you can go as long as 1 to 2 ratio but anything
longer than this will be cut off on Pinterest and keep in mind that very
tall pins are also getting lower distribution on the algorithmic level on
Pinterest I wanted to note though that for my side the ratio of 1 to 2 works
the best 2 to 3 is also okay but 1 to 2 pins
since they're longer they still occupy more space in the Pinterest field that's
why I think they are working better but we cannot always rely just on my
experience right so leave me a comment below this video and tell me which of
these 2 image ratios works the best for you for your account what is your
experience so 2 to 3 or 1 to 2 image ratio what's the best interest recommend
that your pin size is at least 600 by 900 pixels for the best resolution on
any devices and in the most recent Pinterest official guide they even
mentioned as a recommended pin size 1000 by 1500 pixels which I think reflects
the technological development because most of the mobile devices nowadays come
with screens of high resolution which means that your smaller images might
look pixelated on Pinterest so I expect that in the near future most of the
content creators will start using pins of the 1000 pixels in width as an as a
minimum now let's have a look at the best color schemes and understand which
types of images get the best engagement on Pinterest these tips are based on the
research made by cure late they made a study based on the analysis of 30
different visual characteristics of pins for example colors sizes textures the
presence of face the images etc with an impressive sample
of 500,000 images on Pinterest half a million and the most significant
Pinterest image tips based on the results of this examination include the
following the first is that images that look dark receive 20 times less routines
and images with medium brightness the next tip is about colors your image
should include at least a few vibrant colors we're talking here about yellow
red pink based on this study images with red and pink tones get on average twice
more pins than images with blue tones and the next thing is quality of the
image images of low resolution not only look bad on a user screen but Pinterest
can also recognize the quality of the image and reduce distribution of
low-quality images that was based on the research but I would like to add a few
things that I learned from my experience on Pinterest first tip don't use script
fonts in your text overlay for the pins actually any font that is hard to read
shouldn't be used for pin images because you have less than a second to grab
users attention while they're scrolling down the feed and users will not bother
to read and understand what your PIN is about when there are so many other pins
next to yours which were better than designed another mistake I often see
with pin text overlay is trying to add a lot of text onto the image when you have
too much text on the small space what happens is that you're forced to use a
small font and that makes your text impossible to read and always test your
pins on a mobile device to see how your text overlay looks on a small screen
remember that 80% of Pinterest users are on mobile devices and you cannot ignore
them when you're creating your pin design and now I want to answer the most
important question of this video how to create pins that are not all
going viral on the platform itself but also can generate a ton of organic
traffic to your website so how can you convince and intrigue users to actually
click through to your website the first thing you need to know is the text
overlays always increase click-through rates even if you are posting a recipe
pin you still should add a text overlay to make it clear of what kind of food is
on the image you see the healthy meal is it suitable for any popular diet does it
have a short preparation time the text overlay can explain better 1 what is on
your image and can give promises to your users and give solutions to their
problems so that's what motivates people to click through click through but text
overlay can actually be done completely wrong and decrease the click-through
rates this happens when you're trying to give it all the way in the pin
infographics infographic are often getting a lot of shares and saves but
not click throughs and this this is exactly the reason why because people
are getting all they needed on the pin image itself so why would they click
through to your site right you have to give them a reason for a click give them
let's say you have an infographic about 10 people tips of something give them 5
tips on the image itself and make it clear that if they click through they
will see the rest of the tips on your site now if you're driving traffic to a
product I recommend creating pins which show your product in a lifestyle image
not just a product on a white background because people will engage better with
lifestyle pins they will share them and they will click through better as well
on a product pin with a white background the commercial side of the pin is too
obvious and this may decrease your click-through rates and now that you
know how to design pins the right way let me show you how to properly save
your pins on Pinterest Pinterest offers several ways of saving pins from a
website the first way is used when you upload it the pin image itself on your
page or blog post then you can use either this Pinterest browser extension
button or maybe the so shirring plug-in on your side and save
the pin from your side this way right so you're selecting the image and then
you're selecting which board you want to save it to and then it click Save so in
this case because I'm using social pack plug-in on my side I can define a data
pin description attribute for my images and when any user not just me any user
when they come and they are trying to save an image from my site this digital
pin description with all the keywords and relevant hashtags is already defined
for my image and this helps me rank my pins higher the second way is for
situations when you don't want to have the pin image itself on your blog post
on or on your page on the site even though I recommend having a pin
clickable pinnable image on your blog post because this helps users share your
content but if you don't want to have this pin image where you want to create
a new peon image for an old blog post so how do you do this you go to Pinterest
and you click here on this plus button and click create pin and from here you
can drag and drop any image then you can define the destination link to your blog
post then you can use a custom title for the pin over here it can be different
from your original SEO post title by the way so these are the most common ways
you can save pins on Pinterest from any website from your website without using
any external tools or paid schedulers you just can do this manually using
Pinterest itself if you want to learn how I create the pin design in a free
online tool called canva then you need to subscribe to my channel and watch my
